The first criminal case in Russia due to cybercrime in the gaming sphere – the creation of cheats for the computer game World of Tanks – against a native of Yekaterinburg, Andrei Kirsanov, was sent to court for consideration on the merits.
“By the decision of the Cheremushkinsky court of Moscow, the case against Andrei Kirsanov, accused of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 273 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Creation and distribution of malicious computer programs”), directed by jurisdiction to the Verkh-Isetsky District Court of the city of Yekaterinburg, “- TASS cites the message of the Cheremushkinsky Court.
Kirsanov is accused of creating a website for the sale of malicious programs for World of Tanks and World of Warships. He is charged with 670 million rubles.
Kirsanov became the first person in Russia to be accused of committing a cybercrime in the gaming industry.
